I wanted to post some benga today but it seems that this is not to be, I have been enjoying a couple of covers of another perennial favourite, “Si Nguo” and I wanted to share them today. Hopefully, I can get my act together and have the benga ready for next week.
And don’t worry Jeff, your stuff is coming . . .
What the heck, how about another one just for fun?
This is a great track that has received props from all over, Nigeria’s Prince Mbarga in “Sweet Mother”, a tribute to all mothers.
Prince Nico Mbarga – Sweet Mother

Wow, I just realized that Benn Loxo posted a Nico track a couple of days ago, what are the chances of that co-incidence?
I guess I should be grateful that it was not the same one.

Finally, bonus points for anyone who can guess what this is and ALL the artists featured on it:
Strictly for fun:
+ I ranted about how I had written off the Daily Nation but I now realize that I may have to eat my words.
How can I take the alternative seriously if this is the type of content I would have to live with?
And no, that last one is a lead story in the Kenya Times, not an op-ed piece.
+ One day, I hope to be able to produce work like this. For now, the best I can do is this.
+ Koranteng on domesticity and the World Cup.

Steve,
I am listening to these tracks on sunday morning after a busy saturday with AIDS Conf in Toronto 2006.After listening to all unending sad stories about “mdudu” nothing could be more relieving than these tracks. What a joy of old school music!
Recently, a friend told me that if you can’t make a whistle out of any music’s tune then it is not a good music.I am glad all your music comes with a good whistle. Thanks Steve.
Unfortunately I could not open the mystery track!
Steve,
Do you mind adding more songs by Mbarak Mwinshehe? I am thinking of a song called ” Mzese” or “Tina Turudiane” something like that. My daddy used to keep those records and they bring back so many memories. I am the US now and the records are long gone.
Thanks
