Friday oh Friday.
Its a long weekend for us here in the cold with a civic holiday on Monday.
Some benga next week maybe?
Today, more rumba though. For starters, we have the great voice of Issa Juma on “Si Mimi”.

Next up, Pablo Lubadika’s Mado. It seems that every Central African artist from Malage to Franco to Sam Mangwana” has done a “Mado” track which is essentially just the quintessential “girl, you did me wrong then left me” standard.
But Pablo does it with verve so he gets a thumbs up from me.

Click here for all the other pre-1990 East African music I have posted in the past.
So, for fun, I have to go through these:
Thats right, it a Family Guy marathon for me and when I’m done with that, I get to finish the series “Over There” which has been just fantastic for the 7 (of maybe 14) shows I have watched so far. After that, I have to work my way through “Band of Brothers” which has great reviews. Almost 16 DVDs in all.
Its a tough job but someone has to do it.
Enjoy your weekends people.
. . . and it seems I just barely managed to meet my self-imposed posting deadline . . .

Hi Steve! It’s Reuben here in Europe. This “Lunchtime” is just marvelous!! and “Si mimi” by Issa Juma! I’ve given your blog to my friends here in Poland and you can’t imagine how they’re enjoying the music! Thanks a great deal. Waiting for more!!!
He bhe, I have both.
I learned to love african guitar melodies and sound by Pablo Lubadika via a dutch radio station. I couldn’t find out how to write the tune… begins with horns
