Another interesting week, one mystery track and a track from a group whose skills border on legendary.
First one is a swahili classic, anyone who listens to this will say, “Wow, I remember that!!” Not sure who the artist was, at some point, I used to think that Daudi Kabaka did the guitar on this but I am don’t think that any more. I actually had one of my “now” regular readers, Jimmy, (who also happens to be my brother-in-law!) send this in to me.
Thanks.
Next up, DDC Milimani Park Orchestre off Polydor’s 1975 Hit Parade # 1 compilation, its an old favorite of many – “Sauda”.
And I actually have both parts 1 and 2 of the track for a change.
DDC Milimani Park Orchestre – Sauda unatia aibu pt. 1 & pt. 2
Finally for a bonus track, this one has been in heavy rotation on my playlist the last week or so: an example of the great guitar work. Soukous Stars with Malage performing Infidelite Mado at an event in New Jersey earlier this year.

Strictly for fun
+ Some people just have mad skills: check out the drumming on this. Be sure to listen for the 100% kapuka beat about 1min in and the old school rumba style drumline later in the video. I actually had hairs stand up on my neck when they went into Candy, one of my all time favorite tracks by Cameo at about 3 minutes.
But the guitarist’s singing towards the end is just plain horrible.
+ If you like the newer stuff coming out of the Kenyan scene, try this mix from DJ XP which is a combination of new and old music. (fair warning: the music plays right off the page, you don’t get the option to download it.)

Oh, Malage de Lugendo. Doesn’t he also made solo albums? Did he lived in Bruxelles?

I must say I prefer the modern pumping sound.
Your mystery track is Bwana Nipe Pesa by Super Mazembe & Lo Six Orchestra (as least that’s what it says on The Most Beautiful Songs of Africa CD on the ARC Music label).
