This week, its another session of more music, less talk.
A word to the wise: more comments = more music. Enough said.
First up, the King of Kenyan Twist: Mr. Daudi Kabaka.
Les Wanyika in the one famous track they have that I have never gotten around to posting.
Orchestre Hi Fives – Mpempe Club
You can read a little about Orchestre Hi Fives here and here.
Not one but two different versions of Mado!
George Ramogi’s 1971 hit Affline the pretty.
A bit of a Tabu Ley special:
Tabu_Ley, Mbilia Bel_et_L’Afrisa_International – Eswi yo wapi
Track of the day is Eric B. & Rakim in a classic: from 1987, Paid in full.
Strictly for fun
+ Pulp Fiction redux posthumously by Jim Henson’s Muppets from 416film.com
It stars Ozzy Bear as Samuel Jackson’s Jules Winnfield, Beaker as Butch Coolidge played by Bruce Willis in the real movie, Kermit the Frog is John Travolta’s Vincent Vega. Miss Piggy is Uma Thurman’s Mia Wallace and Dr. Teeth as Marsellus Wallace – actually Ving Rhames’s in the movie – complete the round-up.

Sounds good here.
Tx for sharing your knowledge on African music.
Bookmarked!!
Thanks for the music…..I have been leaving comments but for some reason an error page appears.
Got any more Malage de lugendo?
i was here, it is good. especially liked daudi kabaka. i like how it was shorter. so the repetition of the beat didn’t wear on me.
thanks
Another crackin’ selection but is anyone having trouble with the Les Wanyika track jumping all over the place especially around 5m.50sec in ?
Good stuff Steve,
Pse keep them coming.Fridays are almost empty without tunes from you. They remind all of us about not only the things we did and love in the past but also where we are from.Nothing is sweeter than home, at least I am grown up enough to know that.
Thank you for putting up these tracks, timeless pieces of history. Immediately i get back home i am going on a tape hunting tour to find all these and more. Thank you so very very much….daudi and co all in one place…any possibility of getting a D.O.Misiani track up?
Ben
Hi Steve,
unless I’m mistaken “jungle funk” is not from the LP pictured (which sounds more like osadebe) rather its from the LP “Destruction” on orbitone
[...] Benjamin Awoundo asked for D.O. Misiani and Shirati Jazz. [...]
[...] + NK asked for anything from the Les Wanyika album Amigo. Here is the title track off that CD. [...]
