Steve, if you’re going to give AfriColumbia credit for stealing his photo of the Western Jazz lp, you should certainly give me credit for the Daudi Kabaka photo that I took in 2000 that was stolen from my website and is now widely traveled in cyberspace. (I’m sure you had no idea where it came from but it is indeed my photo and it ran in The Beat Magazine with the obituary I wrote for him.) http://members.aol.com/dpaterson/daudi.htm

    Doug,

You are right, I need to give you credit for that image and I have taken care of that. While it might take a while to retroactively update my past posts, I will be sure sure to do so in the future for all new content.

In all honesty, I have stolen (artwork and content) extensively from your site over the last year and a half of posting. I need to give lots of credit for some of the posts that I have put up.

I’m not troubled by your use of my site. That’s what it’s for but I have seen whole articles of mine on other sites without a mention of where it came from. My Kabaka photo has appeared in several different sites as well.
OK. I’m done whining. Thanks for the music and the fun challenge of IDing it.

Don’t worry Doug, the comment was taken in the spirit in which it was given!

    Hey Steve:

Great post as usual. Do you have the recording information for that Les Wanyika track? It sure sounds like Issa Juma somewhere in there, which would date the recording around 1979-80, but it is not anywhere in the Wanyika discography:

Great post as usual, Steve. Do you have recording information on that Les Wanyika track? It sounds like Issa Juma in there, so it must have been recorded 1979-80. But there is no track by that title here:

Thanks for the post you named “Les Wanyika – Si haja yangu (fundisho)”
The correct name of that track is ‘Si Kosa Langu’ a composition of the late Issa Juma, and his group Super Wanyika. Remember his deep- heavy and vibrant voice in Sina Makosa, Kasuku, Paulina and Pamela during his les Wanyika days. Huyu ndiye pia with Super Wanyika amepiga Jennifer, Matatizo Nimeyazoea, Ateka, Sigalame, Si mimi , Mpita Njia etc.

Steve, Please post JESSICA ya John Ngereza avec Och Les Motomoto. ( refer to my request last year)

Unfortunately, I still do not have Jessica or anything by Orchestra Les Moto Moto. Thanks for the correction on the name.

Soon, I will get to fixing all the issues with mis-named tracks on the blog and take care of this.
