I posted a track from Watafiti back in April of this year and it might be time for another one. The guitar work on this track is amazingly nice and clean.
Unfortunately, I cannot find any of their album art. If you do find that you like them, be sure to moosey on over to Wenyewe where your will be able to find a ton of their music,
Another of my all time favorite Kenyan groups comes back the rotation today. Harun Kifoto’s Maroon Commandos

Finally, from Tanzania, Mlimani park Orchestra in a recording originally done in 1980 although this particular version was released in 1994 on AfriCassette.
Track of the week
… a one-time wonder … (methinks? Am I wrong?).
Back in the early part of this millennium when I was in my Horseman phase and one of my pals, Joe, was the DJ there, the track Stuck in the middle with you was required listening. It was impossible to get anyone to go home without playing this and Brimful of Asha.
I am happy to report that this phase is now ended.
And there is the Resevoir Dogs reference to consider in all of this as well … but really, who cannot relate to living in a world with “clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right”

Steve,
You just made my weekend great. The track Ubaya by Mlimani Park brings back special memories.Lunch time, sweating for money, streets, smell of pilau, joy and sadness. Its a good mix for the weekend and I just decided to take the good ones to enjoy my weekend. Hi, Steve,
This is really amazing! I am a champion for afforestation, and I hate pollution of all kinds. I am sorry to say this, but most of modern music is a complete mess – what my girl friend calls polluted music.
Incidentally, this was my first check on this site. I realized that the links to the earlied posted songs are missing. How can a new comer like me enjoy them without causing any harm?
Regards and keep up the african beat.
