Here is the release notification.
Samba Sings for Obama
Samba Mapangala, East Africa’s most beloved singer, recognizing how much Africans love Barack Obama and how proud Kenyans are of Obama’s Presidential candidacy, has just released a song in his honor: “Obama Ubari Kiwe.”
Recorded in Chicago in September at Delmark Studio and produced by Nathaniel Braddock of the Occidental Brothers and Old Town School of Folk Music, the title translates as “Obama Be Blessed.” The Swahili lyrics say: Obama, leadership is a gift from God, and you have it. Please help to bring peace, change and hope to all Americans and all the world. We love you!
A dance remix and video will be available shortly. Please send this song to everyone in your address book to help boost Obama’s campaign! Election Day is just 35 days away!
Musicians on the session were members of Virunga and the Occidental Brothers:
Siama Matuzungidi, Nathaniel Braddock, Jose Shalita, guitars
Rap written and performed by Fanaka Ngede
Voices: Samba Mapangala, Cheryl Kramer, Jose Shalita, D Boudreaux

It’s interesting how some talented non-African musicians can play on African records and still give them that authentic African feel. I’m sure this will be a major hit here shortly.
Obama is blowing up over here! It makes me proud to see how many caucasian people are driving around with Obama stickers on their cars. Whatever you think about him this guy is truly a special man in the league of Martin Luther King. He is changing the world!
The world is holding its breath!!
Do the right thing and vote for change.. I don’t believe there has ever been an election as important globally as this one..
What do the non-English words in the song mean? -Any short translation?
Ha ha ha. This is a masterpiece! I have had a good time listening to the rhythm now. I wish there could be instrumental production of this track, to make it ensure that It would last forever. Obama will come and go but this piece of art should remain forever. Thats why I would like the instrumental. Any one with an idea of where instrumentals of such rhythms can be found – it looks like instrumentals are most found in Western music, not African music? Prove me wrong please and send me links!!

Nyama choma everywhere in Kenya after Obama’s historic win (and a public holiday to boot). I’m still tearing up when I realize the enormity of what has just happened. There’s no regular programmiing on tv here in Los Angeles since last night. It’s all Obama. It’s a new day. God bless America for almost unanimously making an African man the most powerful man in the world.
Hi Steve
How are you doing my brother? I hope you are very well. I am still waiting for my request of a whole host of songs like Liza Oloo, Simon Agira, Super Nyarogendo, Rose Atieno, etc. I hope you are still looking for them my brother. I also hope not to be pushy on a busy and important man like you sir.
I must hasten to say your help would be greatly appreciated. These songs are medicinal to me my bro. I love them to bits I tell you. I would be eternally indebted to you if you would get me that list of songs man. There used to be a song that sang about Super Nyarogendo, I wonder if this was the title track also or not but I loved it so much I sing it almost all the time. Yet I can’t get the song anywhere. I have been hunting for it for what seems to be eternity now.
Please, help me my bro.
Yours bro

Thanks Steve for your response my brother. I will keep checking and hoping that all is well with you and family. Family is important my brother, so keep them happy and we will have more time next time.
I have been up and down looking for these songs but to no avail and now all I will do is search for them all the more while hoping that your storehouse will turn up with something interesting for all of us.
Peace be upon you brother. GOD bless you and yours.
