The Messengers: J. Period and K'Naan

This has been out since August, not sure how I missed it: The MessengersK’naan and J. Period pay homage to Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and Bob Dylan.

I will let the music speak for itself. You can download all three homage albums right from this page.

Be sure to take time to really listen to with their take of Fela’s “The story of Fela” – better know as “Open and Close” and they twist the rhythm and bass riff on Bob Marley‘s “I shot the sheriff” (most people are more familiar with this version) just enough to make you sit up and really listen to figure out what’s going on.

I loved their Fela Album the Bob Marley one didn’t do that much for me but I did like the Fatima track.

  2. J’Period and K’Naan.

  3. Absolutely marvelous!
K’naan should generate alot of buzz with his 2010 world-cup theme song.
